Fading glory

I’ve been looking at the gerbera I photographed on 25th June for several days, thinking I really should put it in our compost bin as it has now well and truly passed its prime. However, this evening I took a closer look and realised it might make a good photo. Despite its rather sad, drooping appearance the yellow colour of the petals is still incredibly intense (perhaps even more so than when it was fresh) and I love the detail you can see in the underside of the flower in this shot.
