Patina of age

I decided to get out of the house to search for today’s photo and returned to St. Mary’s Church in Funtington, a village a few miles down the road which I visited on 22nd December last year. I took a short stroll around the church and the graveyard, taking a few shots as I went. However, it was this latch on the church’s lychgate that particularly caught my eye. I like the texture of the wood against the smoothness of the metal where it’s been worn but centuries of parishioners’’ hands passing over it.
